The Challenge
Software teams faced multi-day delays waiting for manual VM provisioning on legacy bare-metal servers. Hardware utilization was severely unbalanced (some physical servers idle while others were overloaded), and there was no unified API for spinning up disposable test environments.
Tactical Solution
Architected a resilient multi-node Proxmox VE and OpenStack cluster on high-density Dell PowerEdge servers. Automated provisioning via custom Python automation scripts and Ansible playbooks, implemented Ceph distributed block storage for live VM migration, and configured VLAN network segmentation for complete staging/production isolation.
